'Like a buzzed up version of the Toy Dolls' |
This was what some old school punk said to JohnB as he was filming The Briefs. JohnB was in on the start of punkcast in '97, when #1 was created to mark the visit to NYC of Lancashire's One Way System, who he managed. Seven years later John is back on the case as local promoter Paul North brings Seattle's The Briefs over for a UK minitour, including this one in his hometown venue. Solid support was provided by Instant Agony, an original 82core band from Birkenhead, here seen playing their signature tune 'Be Afraid', dedicated to John Peel.. Kicking off the show were new pre-teen punk sensations Outl4w, from Lytham. Fronted by 11 year old Rob Bentham and his two brothers, the very next morning Outl4w was featured in XFM's nationwide 'Rock School Challenge' where they eventually came in as runner up in the finals. |
