'original sense'

The Jammyland All Stars have been getting tighter and tighter of late, which is just as well, as Sister Nancy is known for her distaste for slackness. She still offered to fire Ira after one tune ended a little scrappy. But jokingly as the band was hot. Warming up before Nancy came on they revealed a new powerful 3 way front line - Chava Mirel, Daddy Lion Chandell, and Super Dane - that is possibly the best they've ever had. They worked out on a number of lover's tunes, and the clip is from the middle of their set - 'Love Me With All Of Your Heart'. Sister Nancy made her rep back in the late 70's with Brigadier Jerry and the Jah Love Posse sound system. While the current fad was the tawdry lyrics of such as Yelloman and General Echo, the Jah Love crew stuck solidly to roots and culture. They competed thru inventive vocal styling and sheer positivity, and became a phenomenon. Cassettes of their legendary sessions at Dunn's River Falls were, aided by distribution by D.B.C., well circulated in the UK punk scene. Sister Nancy's sharp 'Bam Bam' - a definitive take on the 'Stalag' rhythm - emerged from their efforts to become an international hit and, arguably, laid the foundation for raggamuffin. 25 years on, looking good, she has lost none of her bite. In the clip she gives the crowd, many of them young NYU students, some herbal wisdom.

And yes i have knocked up VCD's of the sets, Jammyland All Stars is VCD4181 (6+,31:28) and Sister Nancy is VCD4182 (9.32:10).
