'oh yeah that's loud'

Pearls And Brass are a three-piece from Nazareth PA. They play hard-driving blues. While the guitar evokes Clapton's finest hours in the 60's, the rhythm section is as fierce and provocative as any of their contemporaries. The buzz from a show earlier in the week at Lit tipped me to have a go at them at Mike Simonetti's Saturday 'Aerosol Burns' night at Boogaloo. Boogaloo is a neon-chic brownstone basement bar on the border between Williamsburg and Bed Stuy. Hot and sweaty. There was virtually no stage light but fortunately I had a pencil flashlight which provided just enough to shoot. The quote came from the guitarist after a perfunctory soundcheck, and yes it was loud - very loud. Loud enough to swamp my camera's audio circuits. Nevertheless a great clip - 'Bleeding Hands' - is the result.

And yes i have knocked up a VCD of the set, that is VCD412 (5,32:57), which, as mentioned, is thoroughly murky, and with somewhat distorted audio, but thoroughly watchable. You can get a copy from the pinstand for $4 inc. mail ($5 foreign) - if interested email orders@pinstand.com with the subject=VCD412, and I'll let you know the process (paypal accepted).
