'Viva La Persistence'

The infinitely groovy Luxx in Williamsburg was the somewhat unlikely venue for a Wednesday gathering of the Moldy Peach diaspora. Strictly Beats' band Wooden Ghost played, as did Steven Merten's new effort The Gnomes, and Jack's hard-rockin' Stipplicon - who were already on stage as I rolled in. I got down front in time for Kimya and Adam's solo sets. What struck me, with both of them, was how accomplished they have become musically, how confidently they perform. This confidence was required as the Luxx PA, as is it's habit, tended to occasionally boom with feedback. Indeed, Kimya even sung a hymn to perseverance, the clip below.. Introducing Hadlock Padlock with it's chorus 'What goes around, don't come around no more' she spoke about how much she missed playing with the others, and joked that she couldn't wait for all their solo efforts to come a cropper and they come running home to mom.. Certainly, to an independent observer, regardless of a straw poll when Adam was on stage, to which he grudgingly agreed, that Steven is the 'best' peach, she is the one that is most in demand by the Moldy public.

And yes i have knocked up a VCD of Kimya's set, 9 songs. Adam, however, wasn't happy with his efforts, and has had me put the clamp on his set, I thought he was pretty good myself, but what do I know? The audio on the Kimya could be better, but it's ok. You can possibly get the VCD of Kimya's set from her at a show (i'll try to keep her supplied), or definitely from the pinstand for $4 inc. mail ($5 foreign) - if interested email orders@pinstand.com with the subject=VCD2491, and I'll let you know the process. Or just paypal in to that address.

The song 'Viva La Persistence' is included on the new Unicorn Sounds double CD comp which is available for just $10 here
