'we are the future'

This was the day, a Monday, that The Clash got inducted into the R'n'R Hall Of Fame. As this was going on at the Waldorf Astoria, a more punky celebration was going on downtown in the basement next door to CBGB, a Strummer tribute. Mick Jones had been heavily lobbied to come, but gave it a miss. I did, however, show up if late. But in time to catch headliners The Mindless Thinkers. (with a period, note) Apparently these guys were really rocking the neighbourhood in the early 80's, including, someone told me, opening for the Clash. They broke up in 85 and this was their first show since then. They are also slated to play a Joe show in London, and then it may be back to bed. The all-too-short set was mostly Clash covers, but they finished with a strong one of their own 'We Are The Future' - which as far as 1985 is concerned, has to be true.

And yes i have knocked up a VCD of the show, just 5 songs as it was, which you can get from the pinstand for $4 inc. mail ($5 foreign) - if interested email orders@pinstand.com with the subject=VCD Order, and ask for VCD248, or just paypal it in to that address.
