'tightrope walking'

What wasn't mentioned on this, the second NYC date of critically acclaimed Austin band Peel's first tour of the East Coast, was that Josh Parmenter - founder and major songwriter of the band - was nowhere to be seen. One wouldn't have known, however, from the show which rocked. The music is restless, amorphous. It's a kind of gentle country twee - the first clip 'Oskaloosa' - to airy rock - the second clip 'Bells' - with garage overtones that want to break out into full-on Texas psyche, which they do on the last clip - a cover of the The 13th Floor Elevators 'You're Gonna Miss Me'.
